Whether you’re looking for a combination ceremony and reception site, or just an awesome spot to dance the night away under the Montana Sky, the Helena area offers a wide variety of venues to fit every couple’s needs.  Many of them are off the beaten track and might not be the first place you’d think of for a wedding, which is why we thought compiling them into a list would be beneficial.  We have personally attending weddings and/or receptions at most of these locations, so feel free to shoot us an email if you’d like more information!  Or if you know of a Helena-area venue we haven’t listed, let us know and we’ll add it!


Kleffner Ranch:

  • Have an intimate ceremony down by the creek, then celebrate in historic red barn under twinkling lights.  A flexible space for big and small groups alike! A smaller pavilion is also available for smaller groups.(LINK)

4-R Ranch:

  • Close to town yet completely secluded, the 4-R Ranch is perfect for outdoor lovers.  A lovely aspen grove is available for your ceremony, and a large field with sweeping views can accommodate small or large groups.  You’ll need to rent a tent and toilets, but you’d be surprised at the swanky portable toilets that are available these days! While parking spaces are available, it’s best to rent a bus to transport your guests worry-free. (LINK)

Norwegian Woods:

  •  While located at a golf course, you’d never know it because the ceremony and reception sites are on a lawn nestled by a tree lined creek and garden.  Treat your guests to a garden party style reception with lawn games and a bonfire. You’ll need to rent a tent and toilets here, and it best accommodates small to medium sized crowds. (LINK)

Feathered Pipe Ranch:

  •  While it’s main purpose is as a yoga retreat, this ranch is available for weddings and offers gorgeous scenery, fresh air, seclusion, and activities/accommodations for your guests.  A great way to show off Montana to your out of town guests! (LINK)

7-R Guest Ranch:

  • Located in Wolf Creek, MT, this venue offers wonderful scenery, guest accommodations, catering, activities, and more! (LINK)

Jefferson County Fairgrounds:

  • Have a big guest list and a limited budget? Check out the bar at the fairgrounds in Boulder, MT.  It accommodates almost 400 guests! (LINK)

On the Water

Lakeside Ranch:

  • Located on the shore of Hauser Lake, this venue offers some stunning scenery.  Couples can get married with the lake in the background, then start celebrating right away on the cozy, shaded lawn.  You’ll need to rent a tent and toilets here, and it best accommodates small to medium sized crowds. Gates of the Mountains:

  • This might not be a place you’d think of for a wedding, but how fun would it be to get married on the water and treat your guests to a sunset cruise as they enjoy cocktail hour?  This venue is great for smaller weddings, and offers a small pavilion and picnic area/patio that can be used as a dance floor. Kim’s Marina:

  •  For all you water lovers out there, Kim’s Marina offers a ceremony site on the shore of Canyon Ferry Lake, perfect for a sunset ceremony.  Up near the lodge, there is a lawn to accommodate rental tents, and a nice deck that doubles as a dance floor and bar area.  The indoor area is available for food buffet set up, and has toilets. Little Red School House: 

  • Conveniently located in town, the Little Red Schoolhouse offers a quaint backdrop for your ceremony and/or reception.  A small pavilion is available, and the large lawn could accommodate bigger groups, especially with a rented canopy.  This could be another fun place to set up lawn games for your guests to enjoy!

Montana State Capitol

  • Did you know that you can rent the Capitol Rotunda for your wedding reception or special event?  Celebrate in historic style under the dome – your guests will definitely remember this venue! (LINK)


Montana Club:

  • This venue oozes history, from the top floor atrium to the gorgeous lounge and dining rooms. The Montana Club can accommodate weddings form large to small and offers amazing food and cocktails. (LINK)

Broadwater Park:

  • This large park used to be the home of the Historic Broadwater Hotel.  These days, the expansive treed lawn is used for larger events such as festivals and concerts, and could be a great canvas for a gorgeous wedding ceremony and/or reception.


Hotel Lincoln:

  •  The historic Hotel Lincoln offers something different from your typical hotel ballroom.  Couples can use the creekside lawn for their ceremony, and the covered deck and hotel lobby for the reception.  Chef Laurie serves up amazing and unique eats, and your guests have a place to crash!  Best for smaller groups. Great Northern Best Western
and Red Lion Colonial Hotel:

  • If you have a big guest list, these hotels provide flexible space to give everyone plenty of room to boogie down. Great food and accommodations for your guests make them worry free as well! (Great Northern LINK) (Red Lion LINK)

Canyon Ferry Mansion B&B:

  • This bed and breakfast is located near Canyon Ferry Lake and offers a cute little chapel, reception areas, food, and lodging for guests. (LINK)


Helena Civic Center:

  • Great location right in the middle of town, and tons of room to accommodate even the largest of receptions.  With gorgeous chandeliers, it doesn’t take much additional decorating to make the ballroom perfectly elegant.  Big bathrooms, a kitchen, and ample parking are all a big plus as well! Gateway Center:

  • Centrally located in Helena, the spacious Gateway Center is able to accommodate large receptions year-round and has a lot of parking.  Plus, it’s just a stone’s throw from the Lewis and Clark Brewery! (LINK)

Green Meadow Country Club

  • With great views and lush green tree-filled laws, a classic country club wedding is perfect at Green Meadow.  Great for ceremonies and receptions of all sizes.(LINK)

Great Divide:

  • You might not automatically think of a ski hill for your wedding, but Great Divide is available and would be a unique setting for a couple of ski bums to get hitched!  The lodge has tiered decks to use for the ceremony and/or reception, plus a bar and common area inside. It can accommodate a pretty good sized group as well. (LINK)

Knights of Columbus Hall:

  • With a full bar (and bartender), and a space that can be multi-purposed for both ceremony and reception, this venue is a great in-town option any time of the year. (LINK)
